Founder story

PlanHarbor began with a question Greg Randall and his wife, Julie, asked about their own future: at what age can we afford to retire and pursue our passions?

Greg and Julie share a passion for boating. Several years ago Greg earned his U.S. Coast Guard Master Captain's license, the fulfillment of a lifelong dream, and the two plan to retire on the water: cruising the Inside Passage from Washington to Alaska in the summer and Florida's Intracoastal Waterway in the winter.

Greg is a full-stack developer and entrepreneur who has been crafting data-driven web solutions since the late 1990s, specializing in database architecture, website design and JSON integrations. Along the way he has also been a director of operations and a project manager, and once owned a retail sporting goods store. When he went looking for a clear answer for his own family, he set out to build one: a calm, easy-to-read place for their whole financial picture.

That project became PlanHarbor, and life on the water gave it its name. Greg and Julie know the safety of a harbor, on the water and in their finances alike: it's where you come in to get your bearings and plan what's next. Greg is building PlanHarbor so other households can find the same clarity and peace of mind that he and Julie found.
